In Greek mythology Orpheus (Greek) was a musician and a poet that had the ability to Enchant all living creatures through his musical gift, and could even stop the waves of the Ocean from rolling. Orpheus fell in love with the beautiful nymph Euridice. On their wedding night Eurydice was bitten by a snake, and died. In attempt to bring Eurydice back to life, Orfeo persuaded the guardians of the underworld to allow him entry to their kingdom in order to bring Eurydice back from the dead.
As a part of a long-term research, this piece looks at the characteristics and presentational aspects of Orfeo, as the ultimate artist/musician who lives, loves, dies, and lives again. On stage, the dancers ask to entertain, re-examines and recreate ‘acts’ of love and death in order capture the true spirit of Orpheus.
